Release date, price and platforms

Updated · Basics

Quick answer

Horses of Hoofprint Bay came out on November 4, 2026 on Steam as a finished game — no Early Access, and the developers have said there is no content roadmap. It runs on Windows and Linux (the store lists SteamOS/Linux requirements, no macOS). List price is $26.99 / €26.99 / £21.99, 15% off until November 11 ($22.94 / €22.94 / £18.69); the developers quoted €25–30 with regional pricing. Steam Deck is rated Playable, not Verified. Mac, consoles and mobile are not planned — the official FAQ says the three-person team can't build for other platforms right now.

Why there’s no roadmap

In the August 21 release-date post the developers wrote that the game “will go straight into a full release, no Early Access, no feature addition roadmaps” and that they “want to release a finished game and not promise any major updates beyond that.” The pinned FAQ repeats it: bug reports and small requests will be looked at, but no new breeds, disciplines or content roadmap. Our patch notes page tracks what they do fix.

Bundles at launch

Three bundles went live with the game: Support the Team (game + Supporter Pack + soundtrack), Horses of Rivershine Bay and Rivals of Hoofprint Bay (each pairs the game with another horse game). Details on the Supporter Pack page.

FAQ

Is Horses of Hoofprint Bay on Mac?

No. The store lists Windows and SteamOS/Linux only, and the official FAQ says the team is focusing on PC and can't develop other platforms at the moment.

Is it coming to Switch, PS5 or Xbox?

Not announced. The FAQ says they hope to 'maybe' do other platforms later, with no commitment.

Does it work on Steam Deck?

Valve rates it Playable (not Verified): the notes say the on-screen keyboard doesn't open automatically for text entry and button icons don't match. There's no controller support, so you'll use the trackpad/touch.

Will there be DLC?

Unsure, per the FAQ. The team wants to finish and wrap the project rather than plan years of updates. The only paid extra is the Supporter Pack (art book, coloring pages, Discord role).
